The onset of the verifyable experience that one is (in some real way) living in a multiply re-entrant relationship with time, rather than a linear-progressive one, is profoundly confusing at first. I am sure many never recover from the initial shock. Even if one does, it is difficult to intuit the next step in the process, and there are none to lead them.
