My latest walk and talk on AI / LLM danger& and the foundations of human cognition.
In this walk and talk I explore some (largely unknown) foundations of human cognition, the lethal problems with identity (what/who something/someone is) that orbit the is of identity (c.f. Korzybyski), and how these problems arose from displacing the certainty of identity from dead, artificial objects to all phenomenon/situations. I proceed to a brief explanation of the effects of these problems (they damage the root concepts our minds rely upon for coherence in thought and relationship). From there,
I speak about the primal triangle in human cognition ( ambiguity / vigilance / prediction ) and how the introduction of irresolvable ambiguity drives humans insane, can be weaponized easily, and causes displacement of anxiety onto scapegoats.
I explore the nature of a specific array of threats posed by LLMs AI (its not intelligence, at all), and how the introduction of irresolvable ambiguity produced by these systems poses a metathreat or hyperthreat to human cognition that we have neither immunity to, nor even the capacity to understand & let alone resolve.
Happy Origin Day, Loren.
I have had the same sense as Avi throughout my life, except that I was also seeking it in Nature, organisms, insects, plants, water-creatures and living places.
I am seeking intelligence in outer space, because I do not often find it in Academia.
— Avi Loeb
( he is particularly indicating the fields of astronomy and cosmology. also: that this hoped-for intelligence among humans is like a topological map where the valleys (lowlands) are very deep, and the mountaintops ( nearest the sky ) very rare )

Last night, inspired by the Erik Satie quote below, I was exploring playing the piano very heartfully, intuitively, and vulnerably. This was the result. Its not perfect, but it gives the listener, I think, a sense & of my hearts gentle spirit.
The quote:
Advise yourself carefully. Arm yourself with clairvoyance. Alone for an instant. So that you obtain a hollow.
— Erik Satie, Gnossienne #3, advice to the pianist at page bottom, 1890

If most of our food is poisoned by industry and particularly agriculture chemisty, is it still actually »food?
Or is it poison?
What determines what something is?
The word we used for centuries?
Or the actual state of the current referent that the word points to?
It is not the former.
Facebook and other electronic platforms are the frack the people version of instant electronic voting.
It should be, but is not immediately obvious, that every nation in the world has the easily accessible ability to allow every citizen immediate representation in all governmental actions, decisions and elections.
We no longer need representatives, and should not have them.
We need tech systems that give each person, every person, the capacity to immediately determine every action of their governments.
But no such system has been developed, or exists (that I am aware of).

Holophore A: The Sun
Trying to remember even a single example of human technological development that didnt turn out to be absolutely lethal due to catastrophic misunderstanding of Nature, organisms, toxicity, and the difference between utility and organismal necessity, intelligence, and symbiotic unity of life fields on this world.
A brilliant mind sees with clarity and speaks with power.
Via Vidur Mishra (image) and Bob Lang (description) The image is a diagram from Kashmir Shaivism, a school of Hindu philosophy. It illustrates the concept of tattvas (principles of reality) and the three goddesses—Parā, Parāparā, and Aparā, who represent different aspects of divine energy (Śakti). The three figures at the top of the diagram represent the Trika goddesses: Parāparā (transcendent-immanent) sits on Ratiśekharabhairava. Parā (supreme) sits on Bhairavasadbhāva. Aparā (immanent) sits on Navātmabhairava. These goddesses represent the three stages of Śakti (divine energy) and are central to the Trika system. The numbers and labels on the left and right sides of the diagram refer to the 36 tattvas of Kashmir Shaivism, which are principles of reality that describe the descent of consciousness from the divine to the material world. The diagram shows the higher tattvas in the head region, with the lower tattvas extending down the body. The human figure in a meditative pose represents the practitioner, and the diagram illustrates the path of spiritual ascent through the tattvas to realize the ultimate reality of Śiva. English Translations og Sanskrit terms in the image: PARĀPARĀ: Supreme-unsupreme or transcendent-immanent PARĀ: Supreme APARĀ: Immanent Ratiśekharabhairava: A form of Bhairava (a fierce manifestation of Śiva). Bhairavasadbhāva: The essential nature of Bhairava. Navātmabhairava: The nine-fold self of Bhairava. Unmanā: Beyond mind. Samanā: Equalized consciousness. Vyāpinī: Pervasive. There is a very specific threat to human minds and lives that has two prongs. The first is this: anything that directly affects what you make evaluations with — by compromising those faculties — is undetectable, since it compromises what you would otherwise detect it »with.
AI is precisely this kind of threat.
The second threat is far more dangerous: anything that introduces irresolvable ambiguity into human cognitive evaluations will force human minds to collapse on themselves.
This is due to the fact that these evaluations are the foundations of human cognition. They are what structures thought, response, expectation, perception, and behavior.
What this means is that a: when you cannot determine the »difference between an artificially generated object, identity, or situation, and an actual one, this causes damage to the core foundations of human cognition, and the damage cannot be resolved, especially when the threat is amplified geometrically over short spans of human time.
In these senses, AI resembles and intentionally composed HIV-style virus for human cognition, in that it attacks the foundations that would detect the intrusion and damage it causes, by capturing and weaponizing the faculties that might detect and respond to such a threat& into »an aspect of the threat itself — ever more-effectively and completely over incredibly small spans of human time.
Its gain of function research on an endless array of weapons that produce ever-more effective loss of function in their target populations.
We, and the history and future of life on Earth, are those targets.
And we have no defense whatsoever against these processes and those who deploy them.

The future? Or tomorrow?
I sometimes wonder if anyone, or anyone I know, is aware that true or false is not the arbiter of valuable knowledge, or insight.
It is entirely possible (and many humans have done this), to hold a perspective that is demonstrably »wrong& and at the same time for such a perspective to be more intelligent, truthful, alive and insightful, than »any truth claim humans have ever made, or any belief that has ever been held by them.
Some of the Ancient Greeks were aware of this, and practiced it together. They called this practice theoria. Its goal was insight, not facts, and not models that allow one to predict the outcomes of physical phenomena.
It has become obvious that my browser is browsing »me, for malignant and terrifying purposes that no intelligent person or being would ever implement.
