We are never ‘an age’ and this is one of the ‘features’ of our humanity deployed against us. Protections of humanity and dignity that belong to children, must also belong to also adults. Any culture that is toxic or lethal to children… or women… will be found to have the same or even worse effects on men. Because we, within ourselves, carry our child selves, and our mothers. We carry our fathers. What insults, demeans, attacks, lies about or destroys the least of us… has done so to the heart of us, and thus… to us all. And this is also true of living places, ecologies and beings we fail to acknowledge as dignified, alive… or intimate aspects of ourselves, our minds… our human and animal natures.
