Moon Cycle News:

In the Northern Blackfoot Moon Cycle, we are now entering Iitao’tsstoyi (It-tote-stoy-ee)… the first Winter Moon. Blackfoot Moons begin on the first sliver of the moon after the new moon. There are either 12 or 13 in a year depending primarily upon phenological observations.

Some of the events associated with this Moon:

When the cold weather begins. Passerines gone. Male winged termites emerge near beginning of this cycle in California.

Large birds leaving. Snakes are generally hiding. Asters still around, most flowers done. Leaves still present on trees, golden. Usually around October.
