“Could it not be then, that the seeming appearance of the alien, the exotic, and the occult… is little more than the amplified reflection of one’s alienation from presence in being, relation, intelligence, and awareness? The faster one departs relation, the more supernatural, alien, ‘conspiratorial’, and redolent of malignance the void that remains becomes. What is the malignance? The reified figures of the specific character of our own absence from intelligent relation.
The alienation we feel is the sense of the alienation from intelligence and awareness. So the further we go away from presence in true relation, the more exotic, bizarre, ‘alien’ and ‘hyperdimensional’, ‘technologically advanced’ and so on… one’s projections become. These are the projections of absence, and are symptomatic. These are not intelligences. They are its opposites, its counterfeits. Mimics.
As this is demonstrably true in our own minds, relations with language and concept — our political situations, our actual lives and relationships — does it not seem likely that it is true, especially, here, where our senses are poor and our impressionability is exceptional?”
